De Kleine Komedie is a theatre for small arts situated along the Amstel, in the centre of Amsterdam. The theatre brings on a daily basis performances made by settled names as well as new talents in various disciplines of which cabaret, music and stage plays are the most important genres.
The theatre was built in 1786 which makes it the oldest theatre in Amsterdam. Besides theatre the Kleine Komedie also has been a conference room and in WOII it used to be a bicycle shed. In 1988 Youp van 't Hek saved the theatre from bankruptcy. Since then the Kleine Komedie has grown into becoming a stage for cabaret, small arts and het Nederlandse lied in Holland.
